Men's Lacrosse: Seniors Biasetti, Fernandes are NEILA All-Academic Qualifiers

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – Senior attack Nick Fernandes (Fairfield) and senior midfielder Nick Biasetti (Brookfield) of Eastern Connecticut State University have qualified for inclusion on the 2017 NEILA (New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association) Division III Academic All-New England team.

A total of 42 players representing 22 different New England Division III institutions qualified for the team. Qualifiers must have compiled a cumulative 3.00 grade-point average through the spring and must have been a starter or key reserve.

A Sport & Leisure Management major and Business minor, Biasetti had 15 goals and eight assists this past spring, recording personal-bests in both categories. Biasetti was a two-year captain, becoming the first solo captain this past spring in the 22-year history of the program. He appeared in all possible 50 matches in his three-year career.

Fernandes, a Social Work major, appeared in all 35 matches in his two-year career after transferring from Colorado State University in the fall of 2014. He shared the team lead this year with 13 assists to go along with six goals and concluded his career with 16 goals and 16 assists.

A total of seven Eastern players have earned NEILA All-Academic status since 1999, two also reaching the standard a year ago.

This past spring, Eastern won eight and lost ten overall under third-year head coach Brian Tilley. The Warriors were 4-3 in the Little East Conference, reaching the playoff semifinals.
