WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – For the 20th time in 22 years, the Eastern Connecticut State University men’s lacrosse program will be represented at the annual East-West New England Senior All-Star Game, sponsored by the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEIL

Senior Jesse Schulze (Croton-on-Hudson, NY) has been voted as one of two faceoff specialists to the West Team. Eastern first-year assistant coach Liam Murphy (Dover, NH), who participated in last year’s all-star game as a player for the West Team, will serve as one of three coaches for the West Team.

 A total of 52 players representing 32 programs have been selected and divided into two teams. The exhibition contest is scheduled for this Friday, June 2 at Stagg Field at 6:30 p.m. on the campus of Springfield College and features New England’s top available Division I, II and III seniors.

Schulze is among five Little East Conference selections to the team, with all five competing for the West.

This year, Schulze capped four seasons of improvement by setting personal bests in faceoffs won (223), attempted (400) and winning percentage (.558), leading the conference in faceoff wins and attempted en route to first-team All-LEC recognition at the specialist position. He also established personal season highs with 67 ground balls, four assists and five points.

Schulze dominated LEC opponents by winning 67.3 percent of his attempts (99-of-147) in seven regular-season conference games and 68.3 percent of his tries (41-of-60) in two LEC playoff games. Aga inst LEC regular-season and playoff champion Keene State, was 35 of 57 (61.4 percent).


The three-year starter and four-year member of the program won more faceoffs than he lost over the final nine games contests of his career. Among his top performances were15-of-19 vs. Southern Maine, 19-of-27 against Plymouth State and 12-of-15 vs. UMass Dartmouth.

In his final game in the LEC playoff semifinals, Schulze set a season record for faceoff attempts (400). He ranks second all-time in attempts (1,010) and third in wins (545).

With Schulze and Murphy, Eastern has been represented with 40 selections to the annual all-star game beginning in 1996. Schulze is the 36th player and Murphy the fourth coach.
