Warriors Can't Challenge Tufts in 18-3 Loss

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. -- Tufts University rolled up a 10-1 halftime lead and eased to an 18-3 victory over the Eastern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team in the Warriors' home-opener Saturday afternoon at the Mansfield Outdoor Complex.

With half of the 12-person starting lineup freshmen, Eastern (0-3) ws outshot 39-5, with the Tufts (2-1) goalie duo of  Rachel Gallimore and Emily Morton called upon for ony one save.

Freshman Taylor Emmerson (Colchester) made 13 saves in net for Eastern, with seniors Ashley Wolk (Barrington, RI) and Erin Conn (Moriches, NY) and freshman Paige Schneider (East Lyme) each scoring for Eastern. Schneider's goal was her team-leading fourth of the year. Conn and Schneider each won three draws for the Warriors, and freshman Devyne Doran South Kingstown, RI) caused two turnovers.

In the first meeting ever between the programs Brigit Bowser had three goals and three assists and won six draws for Tufts.

Eastern visits MIT Tuesday at 6 p.m.
