Last year’s Little East Conference Defensive Player-of-the-Year, senior Devyne Doran of South Kingstown, RI keyed a defense which surrendered only nine goals in a pair of conference home wins and was named LEC Defensive Player-of-the-Week April 24. In addition to scoring five goals on five shots, Doran led or shared the team lead in draws (12 of the team’s total of 28), ground balls (8) and caused turnovers (8). In a tough 12-7 win over UMass Dartmouth, Doran claimed five draws, caused three turnovers and won two ground balls. She dominated the Rhode Island College game by winning seven draws and six ground balls and causing five turnovers. In three LEC starts this year, Doran averages five draws, 4.3 ground balls and 2.7 caused turnovers.
