Outside hitter Adrianna Mihalek of Woodbury concluded a stellar four-year career with two post-season honors. The 5-foot-8 inch senior became the first player from the program to be named to the All-Little East Conference team four times and later was picked as one of 34 selections to the New England Women’s Volleyball Association (NEWVA) Division III Senior Classic, scheduled to be played Dec. 4 at Tufts University.
A four-year starter, Mihalek returned to the All-LEC first team this year to become the program’s first three-time first-team selection in 19 years of All-LEC balloting. The team-leader in kills in each of her four years, Mihalek recorded a career season-high 428 this year – one of three players in the conference to eclipse 400 – en route to breaking the 25-year-old program record. She finished with 1,494 in 448 career sets for an average of 3.79.
Mihalek was also second on the team this year with 248 digs, with her career total of 1,051 making her the second player in program history with 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs.
Mihalek will join 25 previous Eastern selections on the NEWVA all-star team, becoming the fifth selection in the last six years. She is one of six competitors from the Little East Conference. She is one of 17 members on the Dark Grey Team. An 11 a.m. skills competition will precede the all-star match.
