Freshman outside hitter Alaetra Long of Lincoln, NE helped the Warriors to a 3-0 week and extend their streak to 17 consecutive set victories by averaging 3.67 kills with a .352 attack percentage in nine sets. She also served seven of the team’s 17 service aces. In a home sweep of UMass Dartmouth in a mid-week LEC contest, Long led the Warriors with 12 kills and a .423 attack percentage, commiting only one error on 26 attempts. Eastern has won seven straight, equalling its longest streak in 11 years.
With three LEC regular-season matches remaining, Eastern is in third place behind co-leaders Keene State College and UMass Boston, both 4-0. The Warriors close out their home season Friday at 7 p.m. against UMass Boston, which has won six of the last seven LEC tournament championships. In 2015, Eastern was the only LEC team to defeat UMB in the regular season, sweeping the Beacons at Geissler Gymnasium.
