Little East Conference: Eastern Tops Conference with 40 All-Academic Qualifiers

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. -- The Little East Conference  announced a total of 181 student-athletes competing in the LEC's five winter championship sports – men's and women's basketball, men's and women's indoor track & field, women's swimming & diving - have been named to the 2019-20 LEC Winter Academic All-Conference Team. 

To be named the LEC Academic All-Conference Team, a student-athlete must be at least in sophomore standing in the classroom, have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the previous semester, and have been at their current institution for at least one full academic year.

Eastern led all LEC affiliates with 40 qualifiers, featuring the highest number in men's (13) and women's (12) indoor track & field at women's basketball (10). The second-highest total was 27 by Plymouth State University and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

Of the LEC's eight student-athletes with perfect 4.00 cumulative GPAs, three come from Eastern. Nine student-athletes in all showed a GPA of at least 3.80. For Eastern, eight individuals qualified for the team for the maximum third time: Hayley Brodeur, Holly and Maggie Dulak and Samara Johnson (women's indoor track & field), and Lizzy Cretella, Sabrina LeMere, Tara Prochorena and Mya Villard (women's basketball).

Each of the five qualifiers from the women's swim program had an overall GPA of at least 3.67, with seven women's indoor track & field qualifiers featuring GPAs of at least 3.60.
