Baseball  – Report #9


Anthony Stigler, Fr., RF, Mansfield 

Freshman rightfielder Anthony Stigler (Mansfield), who has started all 33 games this year – 31 in right field – batted .417 in a 3-2 week (10-of-24) and led the Warriors in total bases (13) and runs scored (6). During the week, Stigler had his first four-hit game when he went 4-of-5 with two RBI and two runs and stole a base in a 12-8 victory over UMass Dartmouth, and also hit his first career home run in a 3-of-6 performance against Elms, where he scored three times and drove in two runs.

For the Warriors (19-14, 8-4 LEC), Stigler is batting .248 with a home run, 22 RBI, 19 runs scored. He ranks in a tie for third on the team with nine mult-hit games and is second with six multi-RBI games. 



Softball – Report #9


Christine Guyette, Fr., 1B, Mansfield

Freshman first baseman Christine Guyette (Mansfield) led the Warriors with a .409 average in a 3-2 week which included a pair of Little East Conference sweeps which gave the Warriors sole possession of second place in the final standing and the No. 2 LEC tournament seed. In the field, she handled 56 chances without an error to raised her season fielding average to .989. In a second-game 5-0 win at UMass Dartmouth, Guyette had two hits and two RBI and in a second-game 10-2 home win over Keene State, was 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Guyette has started 19 of the 25 games in which she has appeared this year – all of her starts at first base -- for the Warriors (17-20, 10-4 LEC), batting .283 with seven RBI and a .989 fielding percentage on 178 chances.

Seeded second, Eastern opens play in the LEC Tournament Thursday at noon at No. 5 UMass Dartmouth at Plymouth, NH.
