Junior point guard Carlos Gonzalez of Springfield, MA averaged 25.5 points, 5.0 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 4.5 steals with a team-high eight three-pointers in a 1-1 week which included the 1,000th point of his79-game career and a career-high 35-point effort in an 80-75 Little East Conference comeback win over Plymouth State University which was the team’s 44th straight regular-season home conference game over six seasons. Against Plymouth, Gonzalez was 10-of-18 from the floor 6-of-10 from distance and 9-of-10 from the foul line to go along with five steals, four assists and four rebounds. Gonzalez scored nine straight Eastern points late in the game with 61 seconds left with the 1,000th and 1001st career point. He followed with a steal and three-point field goal seconds later to give the Warriors the lead for good, 77-74. Earlier in the week, Gonzalez set a program career steals record with his 229th. He is ranked second nationally this year in that category, averaging 3.58.
